I had tried adding --enable-shared to TclMagick ./configure, but hadn't 
considered adding it to GraphicsMagick configure directly.

In case someone (including an absentminded me) sees this:

I first cleared the previous gm install with "make distclean" in 
GraphicsMagick-1.3.23 dir. Then:

# ./configure --enable-shared

# make
# make install

# cd TclMagick
# make distclean
# ./configure --with-tcl=/usr/local/src/tcl8.5.18/unix/ 
--with-magick=/usr/local/src/GraphicsMagick-1.3.23/wand/GraphicsMagickWand-config 
--enable-threads --with-tk=/usr/local/src/tk8.5.18/unix/ --enable-shared
# make install
