I am not sure I follow. How are you trying to open the file? Do you have /dev/dvd softlinked to /dev/cdrom (assuming your cdrom is /dev/cdrom)? If not on the command line do (as root): ln -s /dev/cdrom /dev/dvd Now use the ogle-gui to open /dev/dvd as ogle /dev/dvd If you have RH then you can have the dvd auto-started by changing the cd properties (redhat -> preferences -> cd properties). For the section on DVD (put a check on run ....) , and just add the command ogle /dev/dvd Hope this helps.
