Dear xine friend,
there has been an error in my last announcement on this list:
The "xine arts contest" is running till December 15th, 2002 (not 2001), of
course. So you still have 9 days left to submit. Contest details can be
found on http://xine.sourceforge.net/contest.html
That said, there is a new release to announce: gxine 0.2.
This is the application formerly known as "gnome-xine".
Version 0.2 is compatible with the newest xine-lib 1-alpha2 or newer. It
provides a great deal of new features:
- includes a Mozilla plugin
- provides an interactive wizard that will check your installation the
first time you start gxine
- shows stream information while playing
- Mediamarks
Besides that, gxine has much evolved since gnome-xine 0.1, so if you want
to have a simple GTK based media player, this is your alternative to
xine-ui.
The gxine 0.2 release is ready to be downloaded from
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=9655&release_id=126565
Have fun,
Siggi
PS: So far, there have been no objections against the new announcement
policy I proposed last time. So if you don't object within a week from
now, you will find our release announcements primarily on
http://freshmeat.net/projects/xine
There, you can also subscribe to new releases, so you will still be
notified via email.
The xine-announce mailing list will then only be used for
- non-release announcements (like the artwork contest)
- "monumental" releases (eg. xine-lib 1.0)
