Should you say who wrote the content on your site? Sometimes yes (for
credibility), sometimes no (for brevity). And rarely in mobile.

FACEBOOK NO GOOD FOR E-COMMERCE
Many big companies have opened and then closed special storefronts on
Facebook. Failed "F-commerce" attempts include The Gap, J.C. Penny,
Nordstrom, Delta Airlines, and Gamestop:

This is no big surprise to me, based on our user research with social
media:
(free 210-page research report)
While we didn't test Facebook-hosted e-commerce sites, we found that users
mainly use social media to be social and not to do business. Wow, this
finding seems to have been a surprise to those companies that did set up
"F-commerce" sites.
Sometimes I wish that companies would bother investing a pittance in user
research (or just read a free report with others' research :-) before
investing a fortune in a doomed strategy that goes against users' behavior
patterns.

NEW MAILING LIST HOST
This will be the last newsletter sent from my old mailing list host,
SparkList. I am porting the mailing list to a new host. For most readers
there should be no difference at all, but since the Alertbox has 98,217
subscribers, there may be be a glitch or two. If you don't get future
newsletters, you can always resubscribe at
> http://www.useit.com/alertbox/subscribe.html
Because the old mailing list is being exported from the old host and then
imported to the new host, you will not be able to unsubscribe from the old
host. As soon as you get the next newsletter, there will be a working
unsubscribe link at the bottom. Sorry for this inconvenience.
