In Edit-->Preferences-->Fonts you can setup the fonts for the different
encodings. Use View-->Encoding to override the encoding of the current
page.

Look in View-->Encoding whether it's set to Unicode (UTF-8), probably it
is. The you can use Edit-->Preferences-->Fonts-->Unicode and choose a
font that has all Unicode characters that you need (yes, that can be
tedious).
