Aha! There's a workaround. The head of each page needs to include
the lines
<link rel="icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">
Is there a way to ask Galeon not to require these lines, but to just
go ahead and request the file anyway as many other browsers do?
