Folks,

What is great about OSC to me, an average business owner but only amateur (at best) html/php person is the community.  I would gladly pay someone to setup a group of contributions for me and then turn around and offer it as a contribution to the community. I probably CAN'T make it work no matter how much time I spend but someone else probably can.  It is unreasonable for me to ask someone to spend 20 hours working on something for me for free.   Even if they didn't ask I'd give them something in exchange because I'm just not smart enough yet to be able to add contributions of my own.  I would then like to turn around and make whatever I end up with available to the community.

In the spirit of Open Source, I don't see a problem with charging 40, 50, 60 or so to do what the livebuilder group is doing.  What I would hate to see is a Miva type "community" where the lists/help resource have gone from people helping one another to everyone trying to sell you a module. 

I think some people lose sight of service versus product.  Asking someone for $20 to spend 2 hours or 3 hours solving a problem or coding isn't too much to ask so long as the end result, additions etc end up back in the hands of the open source community here in the form of module packs etc.
