The behaviour you are seeing is pretty hard for me to
understand. If you want to help get to the bottom of
things, so that you don't have to fiddle around with
making these special hidden directories by hand, you
could generate a log file for me. In the
<pixory>/log/log.configuration.xml file, change:

	<category name="org.pixory" additivity="false">
		<priority value="info" />
		<appender-ref ref="file" />
	</category>

to:

	<category name="org.pixory" additivity="false">
		<priority value="debug" />
		<appender-ref ref="file" />
	</category>

Then restart Pixory and navigate into one of the
albums that appears as empty. If you could then either
post the log file, or mail it to me, I can hopefully
discover from it some clues about the strangeness you
are seeing.
