Yahoo group problem

Folks,
The spam reaching this Yahoo group (which I moderate away) has been
steadily growing over the last 6 months to the point where it is
starting to annoy me. I'm tired of deleting stupid spam messages every
day.
I see two possibilities going forward:
1) I can change the status of the group to allow only members to post.
It's nicest to allow open posting because it's quicker for posters who
only have one-time questions and don't want to join group.
2) Someone else can take over as moderator.
Any thoughts?
