Regarding static site generators and overhead:
I made a mention to the pyblosxom IRC some time ago about an approach
I wanted to use for static site generation. The gist being that I
wanted to have the blog itself be static, but any submit actions, such
as comments or polls or whatever, would trigger the dynamic platform,
which would run a generation algorithm being based on "make", i.e.,
only generating files that depended on the changed action. I never got
around to hacking it in, but I wanted to try it out on something when
I get the time.

Do any of the suggested alternatives work that way?
