hi all. i've mentioned before that i'd like to include better comment spam filtering in the next contributed plugins release. i'm hoping to get some feedback on which comment spam plugins you think should go in, and how. mako's akismet plugin is definitely a candidate, as are the captcha plugins. pyblosxom doesn't yet have a plugin that allows site owners to moderate comments themselves, but that might eventually be another candidate. i've also noticed that comment spam has dropped to nearly nothing on my blog since i started requiring javascript. that might also be worth including as an option, especially since it can work alongside filtering plugins like akismet. it would mean that commenting requires javascript, but that's pretty reasonable at this point. right now, i'm leaning toward including akismet and javascript. what do you all think? how many plugins should we include? what should the default setup be? should we continue with the inevitable arms race after the first release? -Ryan -- http://snarfed.org/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
