entry parsers on plug-in generated entries

I have written two plug-ins. I have an entry parser plug-in that does some basic formatting of entries, and I have written a simple plug-in that generates entries based on a MySQL database. The problem is that my entry parser does not get called. Do I have to call the plug-in chain manually? What's the best way to do this?
