WOMovies D2JC and D2W anomalies?

Howdy All,

When I run the WOMovies D2JC application (by reverse engineering from  
the OpenBase database) a couple of things happen (and have been  
happening for a while but I have just got around to asking):

1.  The Entities pop-up menu in the initial interface (for querying)  
is too small (by far) and only displays "C..." or similar. It didn't  
used to do this ...

2.  The application menu items appear in the application window  
rather than in the standard menu bar at the top of the screen.  It  
didn't use to do this ...

Do I need to add an extra framework or configure something so that  
this simple application will do the right thing by default again?

Also, some times when I am running this demonstration (or a similar  
one using D2W) I cannot connect to the Assistant.  The app just seems  
to hang trying to connect (or something).

Any ideas why this would be so?  Could it be that I was not  
gracefully quitting a previous test run of the demonstration?     
Usually a reboot fixes it, but is there anything less dramatic I can  
do if this happens?
