Apple posted on the WO mailing list that the WWDC statement will come
within two weeks, that means by tomorrow at the latest (Aug 25).

If not, some people will probably politely ask where it is :)

Sounds fair to me. You sound very determined to go ahead with this in
the near future and that may be a good thing - I won't it won't be
necessary.

Since you mentioned you don't want to wait 1-2 years: Do you have any
timeframe idea in mind for starting / asking for other volunteers ?
Only if you want to publicly disclose this of course...

PS: I will summarize the reasons I posted in a clearer manner (Why a
Open Source WO would be a Good Thing for Apple and the Community)
soon. Maybe there is someone interested to rationally re-evaluate this
option at Apple one day :)
