If your next question is "Set the checkboxes, now what?" then have a look at RoleBasedCRUDAuthorization. You can use that directly, but the idea is you would subclass it and provide additionally logic on top of basic role permissions.

I will discuss this at more length in a month at WOWODC 2013. You should come :-)
