Weird Performance Issues

Ok, I'm confused now. I was under the impression that a light weight
window manager like Fluxbox was supposed to offer better performance
playing games than say KDE or Gnome.

However, on my machine, the opposite has been discovered.

While trying to gain better performance in games like Doom3 and UT2004,
I compiled Fluxbox from CVS and set it up so I can play my games.
However, when I started playing, while in flux, I noticed choppy game
play and low FPS. I am using Arch Linux and am not using a login manager
(Just .xinitrc and startx).

While in KDE and Gnome, the games FPS and movement are as smooth as silk.

Also, I am not using any desklets or monitoring apps like gkrellm. Just
a basic Fluxbox and auto generated .Fluxbox directory...

My system specs are:
GeForce 6800 Ultra 256
AMD64 3400+ (32bit)
1 gig ram

Any compile time optimizations that I can pass to ./configure that would
fix this, or any other ideas?

Thanks!!!

Joe
