If you don't like the folder option, make a backup of your present
file to protect the latest entries and after that you can switch
to the "monthly view" of the calendar, search back to the earliest
Year, go back to the earliest monthly calendar entries of that
Year and delete entries (except the recurring entries!) until you
can write new calendar entries again. Make sure you recover the
memory space after every deletion. To get rid of unused data space
in the file do a File -> Database -> Compact.

Perlloaderplease, I've tried (with some difficulty, as
they do not seem to be very intuitive) to work my way
through the EccoMagic website and forums. All the
references to overfilled date folders that I found
suggest that the limitation is caused by date stamps
which, I think, are auto assign rules. I have no auto
assign rules on any folder. Any other thoughts on
causes or solutions?

OK, I'm "read up". I sure didn't see your first
sentence the first time :D
First thing you should confirm and fix if not
correct is the version of EE. You are running
4.6.6.1. The latest is 4.6.7.7. I recently had
file errors on searches. Moving to 4.6.7.7 seems
to have repaired the problem.
This especially b/c Ecco is working fine in
native.

Friedhelm, I'm working through your suggestions. I
have several different Ecco files created over the
years, and I'm vetting them to remove duplicate data
and, if I can't extend the limit that's been applied
to my Calendar view, I'll move old Calendar data to an
earlier file.
Perlloaderplease, I'll look at the EccoMagic forum and
may do as you suggest, although it seems to me that
moving old data to a different Ecco file may be no
less convenient (and maybe a bit safer) than moving
them to a different folder within the same file.
Airchecklover -- yes, I'm running EE 4.6.6.1 and I
assume that's the latest. Yes, I've run Recover
several times, and it always returns "Ecco is unable
to recover data from the file". No idea why my file
is different from others, but maybe I'll find out
after further research. The earlier thread was titled
"Times displaying incorrectly in Calendar".

Hi Lindsay. i'm joining the calendar memory
discussion late and have not yet read-up on the
old thread. That said, I just took the latest
compilation YSWT put together of Yahoo Forum posts
(found in Files section) and opened it. There's
something like 18.3K TLI's with Dates. Displaying
those Date Items in the Date folder in native Ecco
crashes Ecco. Displaying same folder contents in
Ecco+EE works fine. Again, there are 18,293
TLI's displayed in a scratch pad created by
clicking on ":Date:" which contains, amazingly
enough, 18,293 Items. That is already quite a few
more than your troubled file w/ 16K date Items.
Now for the fun of it, I've just added more Items
to the Date folder. Now the number is 30,121.
And there are 42,684 Locked Items in the same
file.
What is different between your file and this one?
Yours is choking at 16K, this one is not. Ar e
you running latest EE and have you done File ->
Database -> Recover?
What is the name of post # of your other thread so
I can read up?

There is a helpful thread at the eccomagic.com
forums on how to handle over filled date
folders..
Basically, you can move selected date ranges
into new folders, keeping the data and
avoiding a folder use limite.
e.g.,
move dates from 2014 to a "Date -2014"
folder, or whatever.
Use folders as makes sense for your data-- by
using this approach, you lose no data...
