As far is I know Ecco does not work as a mailer, i.e. it cannot send and receive mails, and you cannot read an email in Ecco unless you copy it there as a text.

Nevertheless, Ecco and MS Outlook works well together, at least for me. By adding a macro to Outlook I can copy in one click any info from an email in Outlook (I copy the subject line, and message ID) into clipboard and then to Ecco. By using a simple auto-assign rule into Ecco, the message ID is added to Net Location folder, and as a result the email in Outlook can be opened by clicking the corresponding Ecco item. And that’s is quite convenient. (Outlook creates a unique ID for each message, so these links works even if the outlook .pst file is moved to another location, on another computer, etc.)

There was a discussion on this, some years ago in the sister group:

(It’s almost impossible to find anything in yahoo groups.)

Subject: [eccopro] how to I use my eccopro with today's email services like gmail

Hello
I have used Ecco for a while but have never figured out how to use it with today's email services like Gmail or outlook mail. I dont have an email handler but am prepared to installed MS outlook from MS office if I knew how to have EccoPro work with Outlook; Can someone briefly tell me how to do it, or point me to a link that discusses this (as it likely is not a new question).

Thanks

Cyril
