Probably, there is no corruption in the Registry, you just need to set permissions for Ecco keys manually (There was an instruction on compusol.org – google for ecco WinXP Permission Fix, and see the Cached version).

 Prefer to wait until it breaks again before fiddling with the registry. Hesitant to poke at it now that it is all working smoothly again after using the Compatibility Troubleshooting option in Win10.
