I don't understand how this will actually play out or how the changes will affect us. Will our files on one or both of the Yahoo boards be lost? r do I want to have to read the posts via email. Some people give their posts dysfunctional "fantasy titles," names that don't indicate what their subject is. It's a real PITA to have to load and read through these messages in order to simply find out what in the world they're actually talking about, and to decide that their topic is irrelevant to me. So, unfortunately, for me, so much of this traffic is just interruptive spam. I'd prefer a nicely-organized BBS format.<br></div><div><br></div><div>b. Friedrich Dohmann has left this world, and so have his Compusol and Creative Services (Yes: the cat is out of the bag, someone (me) has actually said it out loud: all three were the same thing! (You've finally, after all these years, heard this information state
d clearly for the first time!).</div><div><br></div><div>It's time for us to figure what he was really about, what he said was useful, what he said was pure BS, and which of his files were just digital poison. It's a real pain to have to download them, one-at-a-time, sometimes install each one in order to know what it is (!), then find that it's irrelevant rubbish. And then, maybe uninstall the thing and hope that its tentacles have actually been expunged from the Windows Registry.</div><div><br></div><div>d. Working within Yahoo's structure, for me, is maddening. Trying to follow a thread is an illogical crazy-making ordeal of clicking and scrolling attempt
s that may or may not work. Frankly, I'd rather go someplace else.</div><div><br></div><div>e. Finally, this: I've downloaded every ECCO file set that I've been able to find on the Web during the last two years. My hard disk is sagging under the weight. Not one of my downloads contains every one of the original files with their original dates. Right now, I'm running the "best," oldest Ecco installer from a date of 2004! Is this simply a re-dated original or has it been changed. As it is so often the case in the on-line Ecco nightmare, it's "Eat Me," "Drink Me."</div><div><br></div><div>f. I'm running Ecco in Linux Mint 19.1 with the xfce desktop, under the Wine 4.0 Windows emulating package (Mint's own spin of this Wine version),
so getting this to work has been especially tricky.
