WebControl using embedded graphics via custom protocol

Dear all,

I've been searching for a while for how to do something that every application from Adobe Photoshop to Microsoft Studio do all the time: use the IE/WebControl to display a welcome or "get started" page, or for that matter, like MS Money, draw the whole interface.

I've seen that the res:// protocol might work but I don't really want to be limited to extracting resources. I could always embed a small http server but that isn't really what I want to do either.

I've seen some posts about PassThruAGG - Igor, I think you're on this list? - and that looks very promising.

I think what would be good would be to register a temporary protocol in my exe, something like app://html/index.html (which might refer to javascript and image files  too). Or it could hook http, e.g. http://app/index.html. I'd have a lookup of sorts that would either pull the data from memory or generate it on the fly. 

I don't want to extract files to disk and serve them that way. Apart from being messy, I recall that IE has restrictions (e.g. javascript) on what it will do from local files.

I haven't been able to find the PassThruAPP.zip file, and I was hoping that someone here has a demo of something like this in WTL already.
