Motif was and still is for a while _the_ standard | toolkit for commercial development. With Sun's recent move and Linux Frankly, I don't care what Sun is doing ;-) They have *minor* role on Desktop, so they can use Motif as long as they want. There is certanly *commercial* market for Motif-based apps, but hey, we develop open-source software for fun, don't we?.. | becoming more important this might change to gtk - but that's a _very_ | _very_ long way. Well, IMO GTK is a wrong way to go. The fact that Sun is basing its Desktop software on GTK background (in the future) just confrims that they are not very skilled in Desktop development. Don't get me wrong: I wish them success, but Sun definitly lacks strong management and it's one fo the reason for failure of their Desktop strategy. | | _______________________________________________ | Forum mailing list | [email protected] | http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/forum -- Best Regards, Vadim Plessky SVG Icons * BlueSphere Icons 0.3.0 released http://svgicons.sourceforge.net
