Meanwhile I striped it down to a barebones WM setup (renamed my GNUStep directory). The results are not really encouraging. I did not get the hangs again, but other hickups: At one point WMaker suddenly thought that the Down Key is a WindowLower key and took it away from X. Sometime later (after I removed the offending line in the WMaker config file and restarted WM) workspace switching (with ALT-N) no longer worked. At one point WM restarted after having received a Signal 11 when I closed an OpenOffice window (screen 2 ws 1) via the close button of the application. Just for fun I switched to a merged FB config instead of Dualscreen. So far it feels much more stable. No Hickups or crashes since then, all my usual docapps running. Unfortunately this entails one DPI value for two totally different screens and scolling around virtual space on the smaller screen. Overall, I would currently assume that wmaker 0.91 has serious problems with dualscreen configs. cheers afx ----- Forwarded message from Andreas Siegert <[email protected]> ----- I am using 0.91 on SUSE 9.3 with Xorg 6.8.2 on a T42p with the radeon driver running an internal 1600x1200 and an external 1280x1024 screen in dualscreen mode. Previous versions of wmaker had minor charming inconveniences (I have been running wmaker for several years on SUSE), but this time it is getting a bit rough: Windows that are iconized on screen 1 ws 1 can not be deiconized on screen 1 ws 2, they show up on ws 1 again which is quite confusing. This does not happen when I work in single screen mode. When wandering between the screens quite often wmaker gets in a state where it will no longer react. I can still move the mouse around, but neither wmaker nor apps (Acrobat, VMWare 5.0, Firefox, xterms, etc...) will react to clicks. I can switch to the console and kill wmaker, but I can not make it restart (even if the restart window pops up, it will not get the confirmation mouse click). I need to kill both instances explicitly. I don't see anything special in the .xsession-errors file when wmaker hangs. The previous version (don't remember what was shipped with SEUS 9.2, but definitley not a 0.9 release) did not have any problems with a dualscreen setup. Is this a known problem? Anything I should try to narrow it down?
