Hi Christoph,

Many thanks for your reply and for pointing me in the right direction.

As you rightly surmised, running "make uninstall" in WindowMaker 0.91 
did not remove the WPrefs.  I removed them manually.

I replaced these files with the 0.92 versions by including  
"--with-gnustepdir=/usr/local/GNUstep" in the ./configure options and 
everything now works as it should.
