The "something else" is interesting.  It tells me that sometimes 
people's reasons are not intrinsic in the change itself.  So if I 
focus my change efforts on clarifying the change and the direct 
benefits of the change, I may be missing my best opportunity to 
make progress.

Yes.  When I first began to ask these questions, I was surprised 
at how important relationships seemed to be in people's reasons 
for doing or not doing something.  I'm not sure why I was surprised.

One note:  The "reasons not to" are in whatever order I happened 
to write them down.  The the "reasons to" are not quite randomly 
ordered.   I clumped about 50 "reasons to" into categories a few 
years ago, and those reasons appear near the top of the list I 
posted.  Perhaps my pre-clumping made some patterns stand out.
