When I explore these "irrational" parts of myself, I find that they are exquisitely rational given the assumptions and values and experiences they are built on. And I usually need to acknowledge and appreciate these assumptions and values and experiences before I can create ones that I like even better. My guess is that your fear of making those phone calls is doing something wonderful for you. And if you could discover what that something wonderful is, you could find other ways to get it, which would make your fear of making the phone calls less necessary.
