From my experience managing my husband's Insulin dependent diabetes I 
conclude that our blood sugar levels can afford to be higher than generally 
accepted - but this is only on observation and not referring to prescribed 
scientific texts - you probably have a different scale for blood sugar 
levels, but anything under 10mmol/L he considers low - I give him on average 
20u/s Novorapid twice daily - less if his BSL is under 15 & more if it's 
over 20 ........ it is possible the scales used are to sell Insulin and 
other diabetic drugs just as cholesterol levels are designed to sell 
statins - that's just my cynical view I guess - but partly based on 
observation.

(My husband was on 106u/s Insulin daily when I met him, he is 95 in 2 weeks)
