We did. The Franklin eBookman. So, why don't we have e-books in the  
schools?

Because it's not about the hardware, that's why.

e-books will take off everywhere, on devices of all kinds (cell  
phones, iPods, XO laptops, general-purpose Windows machines, special- 
purpose eBook readers both cheap and expensive) when and only when  
publishers get wise to the fact that they need to change their  
business models.
