One notable YA author has a romance between a 16 yr old female main  
character and her 30 year old male wizard (human) tutor. There was no  
outcry about it. And had there been, one might have noted that it was  
perfectly acceptable in the society as posited in the fictional world  
(as it might have been 100 years ago in OUR society).

It's apples and oranges.
