26 or 100... Well, to me, it depends on intent and purpose and the number of lends is irrelevant. Here's why:

1. I compare ereader gadgets to motorcycles or power tools; you have to feed them to make them useful. If you can't afford to feed your ereader, do without ebooks and borrow (or even buy!) used paperbacks.

2. I've never viewed fiction as being quite as valuable as useful info. I can easily understand warehousing copies of books containing useful info, but fiction is mostly just Brain Candy.

Since I write Brain Candy, I tend to think only my freebie "An Encounter in Atlanta" and maybe the first book in each of my series should be in libraries as readerbait. For those titles, I'll set NO download limits.
People who discover they like my Brain Candy products can buy the rest of them.

Note: It annoys me vastly when someone spends around $200 for an ereader toy, then posts everywhere looking only for FREE ebooks.
Do they also buy cars, then look only for free gasoline?
Scrrrooo 'em (Scottish brogue, there).
I have bills to pay and don't care if the freebie-only leeches of the world ever get to read my non-readerbait stuff.
