So did the other publishers involved. Unfortunately, no matter what they
marked at FW or at Mobi, the companies moved the books to the new connected
venues and turned them on there. forcing publishers to go in and turn them
off again...several times, because every time a new wave would come onto the
new site, ALL older titles would reset to on, even if they'd been reset
once. Publishers had to explain this to authors and send royalties to
authors that hadn't been with the publisher in question for years. If it
didn't happen to you, you are VERY lucky.

Well, B&N would get them from a FW transfer, even if it was turned off,
unless you mean you didn't have any of your titles transferred to B&N at
all. That was one of the problems.
FW does have (warning here) a large distribution channel it feeds, just as
LSI does. Now, sometimes those books show on the trickle down distribution
as available, but when someone tries to purchase the book, because it's not
on sale at FW, the transaction cannot be completed. I had this problem when
I left eXtasy Books. The books SHOWED as available all over the web but
actually weren't.
If you find they are available to complete the transaction, it's time to
kick some backside and take names. Any sale site can tell you where they
get a particular book...what distribution brought it in. Ask. If they say
FW, you can take it up with the sale site (initially) and then with FW.

Absolutely. I'm certain the "errors" of moving books to B&N or Kindle were
purposeful. I'm sure, by the second time it happened, it was enough of a
headache that they would have halted it and fixed it if they didn't want it
to happen. Or at least warned publishers it was an issue. The fact that they
didn't smacks of corporate greed.

EPIC doesn't have the manpower. They'll tell you how to keep track, but they
don't have the manpower and money to do the leg-work for anyone.
