Hi Alan,
 
Leaving out the growth hormone/brain cancer connection and Linus Pauling's  
death at 93, there are only four who died "early" from cancer. Missing from 
the  analysis is the size of the cohort to which they belong, as well as 
its  median age.
 
The cohort is composed of all the people public or private who would have  
come to my attention as people with life extending life styles who died 
within  the past decade. If this cohort numbers 300 with an average age of 60,  
about thirty deaths could be expected, with maybe eight cancer deaths. So  
the hazzard ratio for cancer deaths would be .50  And only eight deaths  
would have been noticed where thirty would be expected. Since the size of the  
cohort is unknown no such analysis can be undertaken.
 
The fact that the relative ratio of deaths due to cancer vs vascular  
disease is independent of the cohort size does allow an investigation into this  
issue. It should be close to one, but no vascular disease or death has come  
to my attention. 
 
This situation allows an hypothesis that the relative protection  from 
vascular disease is much greater than from cancer. And I for one  am beginning 
to focus my efforts more on prevention of cancer.

Just one more data point to add to this discussion, One "life extensionist"
whom I knew personally, took HGH by injection for four years prior to his
death by septic shock secondary to vascular consequences of diabetes. He had
no evidence of brain or any other cancer. Dr. Robert
