From: Kenneth Nolley [[email protected]] Does anyone know of any documentaries made about the "secret war" the U.S. = conducted against the Pathet Lao? It went on for 9 years, and reportedly, = we dropped more tons of ordinance on Laos during that time than on all of E= urope and Japan combined during WWII. Particularly, does anyone know of an= y documentaries which look specifically at the Vieng Xai caves, where the P= athet Lao leaders and many fighters holed up during that period? I am passing this inquiry on from my wife Jan, who is currently in Laos and= has just visited the Plain of Jars and now the caves, both the focus of mu= ch of the fighting during that period. I think she is finding that encount= ering a very different view of the "American War" (as it is usually called = over there) a bracingly interesting experience, much as I did on a visit to= Viet Nam last year. Anyway, she and I would be grateful to know of any documentaries pertaining= to the secret war and the role of the caves. k -- Ken Nolley Professor of English and Film Studies Willamette University Salem, OR 97301 --
