No, that's not why Eliza jumped from signing for Faith to doing Tru. 
She didn't want to deal with the comparisons to Buffy, plus the Faith 
show wasn't a done deal at the time - there was nothing for her to 
sign. The folks at Tru Calling were ready to sign her right away.

As for shoehorning his idol, that's just silly. Joss hated lots of 
things about Spike.  He doesn't like characters that are too cool - 
he likes to cut them down.  Besides, James has only talked about 
doing a telemovie. He's not going to do a series playing Spike 
because he doesn't want the character to age too much. So you're 
concerns are unwarranted.

Ok, so you're willing to launch a negative campaign and sacrifice 
ever seeing any of the Whedonverse again because you hate Spike so 
much. Gotcha.

No, obviously I don't. I am a member of a lot of Spike groups though 
and none of them match your description of them so please don't make 
generalized statements about other fans.
