Could you try monitoring the poedit process with some of the Sysinternals tools (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/default.mspx)? In particular, use Process Monitor (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/FileAndDisk/processmonitor.mspx) to check if there are any issues with failing to open files and/or accessing registry keys (if you can't figure it out on your own, same the Filemon log file and send it to me [privately, not the list]).
