This is terrible. I have spent all day trying to get PoEdit to work.
I've tried recompiling wxWidgets multiple times, I've tried copying the
stupid .so files manually because wxWidgets' "make install" doesn't
install them. I've tried and tried and tried to compile PoEdit and
something is always wrong.

I've also wasted a lot of time getting xgettext to work. The dammed
program just will not extract anything from my CPP files:

% xgettext *.cpp

This produces nothing. Nothing at all. I've read the man page of
xgettext. I've tried every flag, I've tried specifying just one file or
many, I've tried everything I can think of and nothing.

I've googled and googled and I can't find any other way to get the
freakin strings out of my C++ files. I wasted my time for a while on
Launchpad, thinking that it could produce the blessed .po files and it
turns out that it can't.

This is so frustrating. How hard can it be to get the strings out of a
C++ file. Heck, I can do it by hand or I can write a Perl script to get
them out. There aren't very many anyways.

It shouldn't be this difficult to just get a miserable messages.po file
for an application.

Daniel.
