Yes, focus on a manageable project before trying to save the world. 
Decide what it is you wnat to do and get the resources for it. You won't 
get the resources unless you plan carefully and have a sensible approach 
for getting them.

Just heading out there and trying to get some unknown "resource" is 
impractical and fruitless.

Put your time into planning a project then get the resources for it.

So, let me ask a different question:

What project currently does not have resources but will attract resources?
