Re: Case sensitivity a bad idea?

I agree with you, Ken: the case-sensitivity is annoying. The thing that annoys
me the most is member names being sorted case-sensitively everywhere they are
listed. I also agree that this is a Unix design error. I don't think that this
would be different if our Plone was run on a Windows server, though: it seems
the makers of the Python language made the same choice.

The fact that the system keeps track of case when it comes to user name
and password during login I think is consistent with the way it works
on almost any Internet site, so although a problem for our kid users,
it could be seen as a "real world" exercise: they need to know this to
be able to function efficiently on the Net.

In any case, regardless if we want this or not, I'm afraid that this is
quite impossible to change: it is an inherent attribute of our
architecture, and I don't know of any easy way to switch it off on a
system level. We'll have to live with it.
