Bug report

I'm using Debian linux version 3.1 (sarge). I recently used apt-get install 
to install xemacs.
I did a little shell scripting and it seems to work fine. Quite new to linux 
and the shell, but getting there.
The problem is this. The word scratch keeps flashing in the top left corner, 
similarly the bold blue XEMACS logo does the same.
Also when you are in a buffer the extreme right of the window flickers too.
Its something and nothing I know, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
