Hello! I was wondering whether using GLUT hinders the performance of the application in comparison with the plain platform-dependent approach of creating a window using the OS API. What prompted me to write this mail is that I have this fairly simple program (does some calculations but nothing significant) that takes 100% CPU. It's quite possible that this maybe due to a bad driver, since I recently updated to an unstable version of my Linux distribution. But, anyway, do you have any observation on this issue, does GLUT make the game program slower or the difference (if any) is negligible?
