Joe,

Really? So then the Democratic or Republican parties can also decide
who can vote and who cannot vote, too? Uh, I don't think so. They are
NOT a corporation and we are not stockholders. For them to say that a
vote from Florida only counts as a half a vote is assinine, and I'm
surprised someone hasn't taken it to Federal court as a violation of
voting rights. Again, ironicly coming from the Democrats who demanded
in 2005 that every vote be counted (especially tainted or illegal
ballots, but excluding military ballots, and oh by the way don't bother
re-counting counties that voted heavily Republican either ... but aside
from them, count all of the rest of the votes)

As for bias in their delegate system, again, NO ONE'S VOTE should be
weighed heavier than another's, whether bias is intentional or not. And
here, it's clearly intentional. Districts that previously voted for
Democrats get more delegates? So if I move from one district to
another, my vote somehow counts LESS?

And I hate to tell you this, but Republicans DO NOT have
"super-delegates". Period. The party elites get to be delegates the
same way other delegates get picked, by being part of their state's
delegation within the primary system.

I think you have little idea on why or how the primary system is run.
It's supposed to be for the party members as a whole to choose a
candidate. So rather than have what is currently happening with the
Democrats (e.g., chaos and infighting) with a screwed up distribution of
delegates; the Republicans choose to awards the Lion's share of the
delegates to the winner of each state. Very similar to our electoral
college, which is how we choose our President.

The electoral college ensures that candidates must run for President in
all 50 states, and not just run in one section of the country to get
elected. With no electoral college, someone could run appealling to
California, New York, Texas, Florida, and a couple more states with
heavy population, win 80% of those votes, ignore the rest of the counry
and get elected. The electoral college forces candidates to run in the
entire country, and is a time tested and true system.

Likewise with the primary system the Republicans use. Each candidate
has to run and appeal to big states and small alike. I'm not all that
happy with putting tiny states like Iowa and New Hampshire ahead of
everyone else, but other than that, I'm in favor of the winner take all
system.

To put it in sports terms, it's like a seven game series in hockey.
Right now the Penguins and Red Wings are entering game six tonight (GO
PENS!) ... The Penguins are down 3 games to 2. Winner take all for each
game, not a total of their goals for the entire series. Using a
"popular vote only" method (e.g., goals only), Detroit would be way
ahead because they won 4-0 and 3-0 in games one and two.

Instead, each game stands seperately in the quest to win four out of
seven games.
