Well the 2008 Owls Open tournament has finished, with Jonty Klassnik taking the title for a second year running! I'm sure everyone can appreciate that winning a Diplomacy tournament twice in a row is an amazing feat. Congratulations Jonty!! In the minor placings, Brad Basden makes a strong finish, justifying his long held Black Belt rating. And Ron Hardy with a hard luck story of being so excited by the Obama election that he NMR'ed, losing a solo opportunity in 3B and getting stalemated on 17. What could have been! Many thanks to each player for contributing to making this a successful event. With 95 players and 31 games the Owls Open is becoming a solid tournament into it's fourth year. I appreciate the consistent feedback that the format and the game parameters are conducive to quality Diplomacy. That has always been my aim in the Owls series.
