Ahhh....Payola!

To have any influence on the course of a payola game, a paradigm shift
is essential.
In payola games, one can often be blind to an actual stab for many, many
turns...which can work both ways, of course - this heightens a dip
player's well developed sense of paranoia, and it also makes the rush
even that much greater when the stab works!
My biggest problem is that I want so desperately to tell people about
the stab...but can't!

In many ways, diplomacy itself is a paradigm shift from other
strategy/war games - there's no dice, the mechanics are simple, and
talking about what's going on isn't ancillary, it IS the action. Well
payola goes a layer deeper than diplomacy because no one can be certain
who was responsible for the movement of each piece - thus concealing the
stab, or extending the diplomatic dance.

Try it. It will expand your dipping horizons.

p.s. Wow. Someone quoted something I wrote. Doh! And I only wrote
that article because Manus used his Jedi Mind trick on my weak will!

Cheers,
Jose

Let us not forget that the DPjudge started out as a means to run
what Jose
Torres has termed a paradigm shift in the great game of
Diplomacy, called
Payola. With a few minor alterations (giving starting money to
powers with
units but no centers, and prohibiting eliminated players to give
away their
money), we're now able to offer you a most promising game of
Payola on the
Void map. 36 units are waiting for just as many commanders with
big pockets
and enough guts to lead them in the game called moneyvoid.

For newcomers, don't be put off by the bidding rules. With just
9 AgP and
one unit to start with, you can learn everything about the
bidding process
as the game goes along. There's quite some magic in it. In
Payola, you can
not only command the thoughts but also the actions of your
opponents as you
write and bribe your way to greatness.

Game moneyvoid is now forming. All join.

	Mario.
