That’s what the intended goal of ’tags’ is, and search can already include tags. Eg ‘glider’, ‘bomber’, ‘Boeing’. Problem is there’s no auto-complete in the search box, so most people don’t know this works.

What I think may be sensible, is to extend the Filter Ui (under browse) with a ’tag selector UI’ (as seen in many places, eg Flickr, StackOverflow), to exclude / include certain tags. This would allow excluding aircraft by tag, regardless of the ratings filters. (we could also put a filter button / UI on search, but normally once you’re searching, there’s so few hits it doesn’t mater…)

The tags are pretty comprehensive:

.. but making a nice UI for these is slightly non-trivial. I know *how* to do it, just needs the time to make it look visually pleasing (needs a model, a Flow repeater, maybe some colour coding, a tags model with a popup…)

Kind regards,
James
