Terragear 0.9.5 will not compile

Hello All,

I am a total newbie to Linux and Flightgear / Terragear and have run 
into several problems, but have managed to sort them out till now.

I have the following setup:

Linux Redhat 7.3
Compaq Pentium 866MHz
GeForce 2 MX400

Initially I installed and got these running
FlightGear 0.9.3
SimGear 0.3.4
plib 1.6.0

Now I would like to compile the Finnish scenery, thus installed
TerraGear 0.9.5 which needed
SimGear 0.3.6 (Simgear 0.3.4 make clean) which needed
openal (CVS)
gpc231
gts 0.7.2
nurbs++3.0.11

In TerraGear the ./configure goes OK, but in make I get error with 
heap.o / Heap.cc. I believe this is from glib 1.2

Array.h:69:`memcpy' undeclared ... etc. (Grr! Do not know how to 
copypaste the lines from console...)

I suspected this to be due to old glib, thus I loaded and installed 
glib2.4.6, which needed
pkgconfig 0.15.0

I configured with ./configure --prefix=/opt/glib
then make and make install
then as mentined in the gtk manuals
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/opt/glib/lib"
PATH="/opt/glib/bin:$PATH"
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH PATH

But this was no help.

As I said, I am newbie to Linux, so I just try to go with some readme 
helps etc...
