This is in line with the charter: "The ASRG may develop certain technologies that could serve as a starting point for standardization efforts within the IETF" The IETF is much more likely to listen to a combined single proposal arriving from the IETF than several individual proposals. The purpose of starting this subgroup was to make sure that these proposals have a higher chance of success in the IETF as a single document, rather than individual ones. Yakov
