I'm just catching up on the bad-CD reports. Some things of interest: The BPI are building a wall around Europe to stop any non-EU CDs getting in. CD-WOW was the first. Now PLAY.com (Jersey) has also rolled over, and Amazon.co.uk is the next on the list to be 'persuaded': http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/3514101.stm The SunnComm MediaMax system is now in use in Germany (the Germans always seem to get it worst), for example in "Comin' from where I'm from" by Anthony Hamilton. This format is the one that installs a modified device driver to stop you extracting the audio from the disc. This is ineffective however if you have autoplay turned OFF, or hold down shift whilst inserting the CD. I'm so glad I don't run Windows: http://www.cs.princeton.edu/~jhalderm/cd3/ Universal is reported to be starting to release some music only on DVDs, for example Marco Borsato's new album (Netherlands). This is supposedly to avoid people copying the music, and because many people have DVD players now and buy more DVDs (i.e. they are "following the market").
