I've tried all of those distros.  I would never recommned red hat to a 
raw newbie.  Suse is excellent, but the docs that come with it are very 
elementry, useless for anyone except a totally raw nix user.  I tried 
standard Debian.  Installation issues out the wazoo.  I installed 
knoppix, and got a functioning debian system in about 15 min....no 
futzing.  If I used standard debian I would still be fixing a list of 
installation issues in addition to installing ACPI :).
