Hi all,
(Please CC me any answer, I am not subscribed to the list, thanks)
I'm quite a newbie with ACPI, so please forgive me if this is a FAQ. I
have an IBM Thinkpad X.31 with the BIOS Upgraded to the latest version.
I'm using kernel
2.6.0-mm1 with latest acpi patches (although I've seen the same errors
with previous versions as well). The laptop boots fine, but the /proc/acpi
entries are almost unusable (no BAT, no THM), and I got some errors
regarding the Embedded Controller. I'd be grateful if you could give some
some pointers or comments....
What I have done:
* Make sure I have the latest ACPI patches.
* Make sure that the BIOS passes the blacklist :)
* Checked the acpi.sf.net db to see if there are DSDT tables for my model
* Checked that this model does not have the ECDT bug found in previous
Thinkpad models.
* Try to fix the DSDT table myself. dumped the DSDT table, compiled it (5
errors, 2 warnings): My understanding of IASL is null, but following some
docs, I added default return statements (not all paths return xxx),
commented some strings "Windows 2000" and Changed some OperationRegion
values (mostly increasing the last parameter by 1). Compiles 0 err 0
warn. Patched osl.c with new table (AmlCode).... Boots fine, I see
something like "OS overrides table", but still the same errors.
* Look at the acpi.sf.net mailing lists.
(No matches found for AE_TIME) :~ weird...
(No matches found for X.31)
* (Desperate): since errors are mostly AE_TIME, I increased the default
DELAY for EC operations from 10 ms to 100 ms. Nothing :)
You'll see the errors later in this mail.
I honestly don't know what else to do. I understand that the ACPI
subsystem is a work in progress, so are those messages related to missing
features? I'd really appreciate some pointers.
