[ Sorry if this question was asked again and again: I am new to the list and the list archives on sf.net are down. ] Hi I have a IBM Thinkpad R32 which shows no /proc/acpi: pfrauenf@lappi:~> ls -lF /proc/acpi ls: /proc/acpi: No such file or directory And I wonder if this is my fault, the fault of the kernel, the BIOS or Saddam's fault. ;-) I have a kernel.org 2.6.0-test1 kernel (including the patch acpi-20030714-2.6.0-test1.diff.gz) built with a Debian gcc 3.3.1. The ACPI boot messages read: pfrauenf@lappi:~> dmesg | grep ACPI BIOS-e820: 000000001ff70000 - 000000001ff7a000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 000000001ff7a000 - 000000001ff7c000 (ACPI NVS) ACPI: RSDP (v002 IBM ) @ 0x000f7120 ACPI: XSDT (v001 IBM TP-1M 00000.08209) @ 0x1ff733f8 ACPI: FADT (v001 IBM TP-1M 00000.08209) @ 0x1ff73444 ACPI: SSDT (v001 IBM TP-1M 00000.08209) @ 0x1ff734f8 ACPI: ECDT (v001 IBM TP-1M 00000.08209) @ 0x1ff79f55 ACPI: TCPA (v001 IBM TP-1M 00000.08209) @ 0x1ff79fa6 ACPI: BOOT (v001 IBM TP-1M 00000.08209) @ 0x1ff79fd8 ACPI: DSDT (v001 IBM TP-1M 00000.08209) @ 0x00000000 ACPI: BIOS passes blacklist ACPI: MADT not present ACPI: Subsystem revision 20030714 ACPI: Found ECDT ACPI: Could not use ECDT ACPI: ACPI tables contain no PCI IRQ routing entries PCI: Invalid ACPI-PCI IRQ routing table The ACPI part of my .config file reads: pfrauenf@lappi:~> grep ACPI /boot/config-2.6.0-test1 # Power management options (ACPI, APM) # ACPI Support CONFIG_ACPI=y # CONFIG_ACPI_HT_ONLY is not set CONFIG_ACPI_BOOT=y CONFIG_ACPI_SLEEP=y CONFIG_ACPI_SLEEP_PROC_FS=y CONFIG_ACPI_AC=m CONFIG_ACPI_BATTERY=m CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON=m CONFIG_ACPI_FAN=m CONFIG_ACPI_PROCESSOR=m CONFIG_ACPI_THERMAL=m # CONFIG_ACPI_ASUS is not set # CONFIG_ACPI_TOSHIBA is not set # CONFIG_ACPI_DEBUG is not set CONFIG_ACPI_BUS=y CONFIG_ACPI_INTERPRETER=y CONFIG_ACPI_EC=y CONFIG_ACPI_POWER=y CONFIG_ACPI_PCI=y CONFIG_ACPI_SYSTEM=y CONFIG_X86_ACPI_CPUFREQ=m # CONFIG_X86_ACPI_CPUFREQ_PROC_INTF is not set # CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_ACPI is not set The modules fan, ac, button, battery and thermal can be loaded and unloaded but there is no message in syslog or on console. And the respective directories in /proc are empty: pfrauenf@lappi:~> ls -l /proc/ac_adapter/ total 0 pfrauenf@lappi:~> ls -l /proc/battery total 0 (I thought they should be under /proc/acpi and not under /proc.) And finally, my BIOS revision: 2.01a (1NET80WW) from 2002-09-12 with Embedded Controller Version 2.29.25 (anything else you need to know). Thanks in advance for any hints.
